Frequently asked questions
Which factor should I use: 261, 313, or 365?
It depends on which days you are paid for. Five-day-week employees usually use 261, six-day-week employees 313, and employees paid for every day of the month, including rest days, 365. Your employer’s payroll policy or contract should state its factor.
Why not just divide my monthly salary by 22 or 26?
Dividing by the working days of one month gives a different rate every month. Payroll uses a yearly factor so the daily rate stays the same all year: monthly × 12 ÷ factor.
How do I get my hourly rate?
Divide your daily rate by 8, the normal hours of work in a day. Overtime and night differential are computed from this hourly rate.
How do I convert the minimum wage to a monthly salary?
Multiply the daily minimum wage by the factor and divide by 12. Enter the daily rate in the second field to see it. Check the current wage order for your region on the National Wages and Productivity Commission website.
