How to use this calculator

  1. Enter your rate per kWh from your latest bill.
  2. Adjust the watts and daily hours for each appliance you own. Set hours to 0 for ones you don’t have.

How it’s computed

Monthly kWh per appliance = watts × hours a day × days ÷ 1,000.

Cost = kWh × rate. The bill is the sum of all appliances.

Example

With the sample settings at ₱12.00 per kWh:

  • The refrigerator uses 45 kWh, about ₱540.00 a month.
  • All appliances together: 130.5 kWh, or ₱1,566.00 a month.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I find an appliance’s wattage?

On the label or nameplate at the back or bottom, or in the manual. If it shows amperes only, multiply by 220 volts for a rough wattage.

Why is the refrigerator set to 10 hours?

A ref is plugged in all day, but its compressor switches on and off. Running about 10 of 24 hours at full power is a common rough figure; inverter refs use less.

Why doesn’t this match my bill exactly?

Wattages here are typical values, and hours are guesses about your habits. Your rate also moves every month. Sample rate only. Utility rates change every month; divide the total on your bill by the kWh used to get your real rate.

How do I find what to cut?

Look at the biggest rows. Appliances that heat or cool, like aircons, flat irons, water heaters and refs, usually cost the most. An hour less a day of the top item saves more than unplugging chargers.
